The Bulkley Valley Genealogical Society (BVGS) was incorporated in 1996 under the Societies Act of B.C. We occupy two rooms in the Central Park Building (1425 Main Street), a heritage building shared with the Smithers Museum and Art Gallery. Our members have access to an extensive library, microfiche readers, a microfilm reader-printer, scanner-photocopier and a computer with highspeed internet access. We provide an active genealogy education and outreach program to the Bulkley Valley from Hazelton to Burns Lake. Members' research areas have included Ontario, USA, UK, Ireland, Italy, central and eastern Europe.

The purposes of the society are to create and foster an interest in genealogy, preserve data, assist those persons interested in compiling their family history and to share ideas that may aid in more accurate research in genealogy.
